FAQ

1. Which are the benefits of having my pet neutered?

By having your animal neutered you are minimizing the risk of the animal developing various types of cancer later on in its life. You are also eliminating the risk of a fatal infection of the uterus called “pyometra”. Neutering can also help control the behavior of an animal by avoiding limiting behaviors such as aggression or going astray while in search of a mating partner. Finally, by having your animal neutered you contribute to solving the major problem Greece has with a large stray population, fed with puppies from unwanted pregnancies. Puppies are being abandoned on the street or in shelters that have already surpassed their capacity.

2. What paying methods can I use?

In our clinic you can pay cash, with credit cards by almost every major bank (Visa and Master), as well as in installments, depending on the amount. You can also pay by bank remittance to our accounts with either the National Bank of Greece or Piraeus Bank. And you can also pay with paypal.

3. Which animals are you accepting for treatment in your clinic?

Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, budgies and parrots, and upon appointment we also see horses and exotic animals (Inguana, etc.). We do not accept farm stock as we are exclusively treating companion animals

4. I am working – what time can I bring in my animal for surgery?

After 9 a.m. you can drop off your animal at our clinic. Surgeries usually take place during the morning hours, however, there is the possibility of your pet staying in our after-care crates until 2 p.m. if you would like to do some business or your shopping while in Kalamata and then pick up your pet before we close at 2. You can also pick up your pet in the afternoon without any extra charge. In any case, the treating surgeon will decide if the patient is fit to leave the clinic and return home after having recovered.

5. Do I have to make an appointment in order to bring in my pet?

Our clinic is working exclusively with appointments in order to offer the best service without long waiting times. Still, you may come in without having made an appointment but existing appointments will have priority and waiting time may be long. Emergencies are, of course, an exception and in such a case we will try to help you as quickly as possible.

6. How often does my dog/cat have to get his shots?

Initial vaccination is different for cats and dogs. Dogs have to start their vaccination schedule at about 42 to 45 days after having being born. After that, there are three more shots in 3 to 4 weeks intervals. And then there has to be the annual booster shot.

Cats start at 8-10 weeks after having been born and they can either have the double or the triple vaccination, depending on if it contains stems of Viral Leukemia or not. Cats also have to have annual booster shots.

And let’s not forget the important vaccination for dogs against Leishmaniasis that starts at the age of six months, and the shot against Infectious Tracheobronchitis that can be combined with the last dose of the basic vaccination.
